Come join Team Keilor for relays this season

Come join the very successful KLAC relay program!

Under the capable leadership of our relay coaches Tim Golder, Nick Olsen and John McCall, the KLAC relay program has gone from strength to strength. KLAC is proud to announce the return of this program for the 2014/15 season.

Key competiton dates this year are:

– Box Hill Relay Day (for U8  to U16) – Sunday, 26 October
– Regional Relays (for U7 up to U16) – Saturday, 22 November
– State Relay Championships (for U9 up to U16) – Saturday, 13 December

In addition, teams will participate in two Relay Record Challenges during a normal KLAC Saturday morning competition. At this stage the likely dates for those Relay Challenges are Saturday, 15 November and Saturday, 29 November.

We are keen to field as many teams as possible, and to have as many children join the relay squad to be part of Team Keilor. All athletes are encouraged to join a relay team, regardless of natural running speed and previous experience. Come along and have a go!

Training Days/Times

The relay season is short and sharp, so the commitment to training is manageable.  Training for each age group will only be for one 45 minute session each week, on the following days:

Under 7 and 8 – Mondays at 5.15pm, starting on Monday, 29 September and ending on Monday, 17 November

Under 9 and 10 – Wednesdays at 5.15pm, starting on Wednesday, 1 October and ending on Wednesday, 10 December

Under 11, 13 and 15 – Tuesdays at 6.00pm, starting on Tuesday, 7 October and ending on Tuesday, 9 December

Under 12, 14 and 16 – Wednesdays at 6.00pm, starting on Wednesday, 8 October and ending on Monday, 10 December

How do I Join In?

Any athletes interested in participating should send an email to tim.golder@allens.com.au or nick@apaolsen.com.au listing the athlete’s name, age group and parents’ contact details.

Anyone interested in coaching a team (or being an assistant to an experienced coach) should contact Pauline McShanag on barker.pauline.p@edumail.vic.gov.au. With Nick Olsen and Tim Golder on board, coaches will have access to top class assistance – as well as the opportunity to utilise the outstanding facilities that the Keilor Track provides.
