Last Saturday 21 January 2017 saw the running of the inaugural Gwen Timmins Shield, a points based athletics challenge against the Essendon LAC. Although a couple of technical hitches saw the results delayed more than we wanted, we are pleased to report that that Keilor is the winner in its inaugural year!
Well done to our 249 athletes who attended and helped the centre, and thank to Essendon for joining in to the challenge. We look forward to the next challenge next year, where Essendon will have their turn to have a home ground advantage….
Because this an inter-club and not individual points competition, we will not publish a full list of points by athlete, but will acknowledge our top male and female:
- Male – U16 Christian Inglese, who was the only athlete from either centre to score the maximum 100 points over the five events
- Female – U6 Emma White and U11 Alyssa Thrasivoulou, both who scored 91 points.
Congratulations to both Christian and Emma – and to every other athletes who turned up and supported Team Keilor last Saturday. And a special thanks to our results manager Lianna Galang for the work required to make this inaugural challenge happen.
