Preston Reservior – Edwards Lake Park
Griffiths Street, Reservoir
Good Luck to all athletes involved in the region Cross Country Event this weekend. We have had a fantastic number of athletes enter for this event….We actually have the MOST athletes competing in all of the Northern Metropolitan Region. You have done us proud Team Keilor – I was rapt when I saw the numbers! Yay – you really are showing them that we are the best! I know I go on about it time and time again – but that’s what it’s all about. Being part of the team- having a go, and doing your best. Athletics and cross country being such individual events – it’s lovely to see the team spirit amongst our athletes and parents.
With such great numbers, it will be exciting to see how Team Keilor goes in the team events. Remember, there are both individual and team presentations – so teams with 3 or more runners, make sure you stick around to see how your team went.
I have attached the following documents for your information (please see below);
- Event schedule
- Competitor Listing
- Parent Duty Roster
- Course Maps
I have compiled a listing of the athletes and both the Call room time and Event time. Please double check your athletes schedule yourselves to make sure you arrive in time.
For families that are new to Cross Country – you need to make sure athletes are at the Call Room at the Call Room Time (they haven’t put a close time). Please make sure you arrive early so athletes do not miss out. If you are unsure about the process please contact me before Saturday – or, as ask Glenn (the team manager) on the day.
I have put together a duty roster for parents. It’s not a long duty and I have tried to make sure you are not rostered when your child is racing. It’s not a long day…..it’s actually just a morning – so please make sure you all check your duty and arrive on time.
Parents with the first duty – Course Marshall Official are to be in place by 9.15 for our U6-U8 athletes. Please make sure you arrive early to take position so as to not delay the program. I have scheduled parents according the races/events – so please ensure you keep track of the program. Please be mindful that you will be relieving other parents who would like to see their kids run.
I would like to thank our Chiefs, Mike Lloyd, Gail Monument and Collette Taylor who have volunteered their services for the entire program. It’s a big effort to volunteer as a chief – your assistance is very much appreciated.
The very swift Russell Cram will be the Team Keilor Hare – I have some rabbit ears if you want them Russell! Kids – make sure you catch him! (Wouldn’t that be hilarious?) Russell – I am assuming you will be needed early for the junior clinic.
There will be a clinic for the U6 – U8 athletes. Sign in for the clinic commences at 9.00am with a 9.30 start. I don’t have much information –but it looks like they will be running their 500m / 1 km run. Apologies for the lack of information – this is the only information I have received.
Massive thanks to Glenn Walsh who has been doing a great job as Cross Country / Team Keilor ‘GO TO MAN’ this season. Thanks for all of your assistance Glenn – you have been great. Glenn will be the Team Manager for the day – so please make sure you report to Glenn when you arrive. If you need to contact Glenn on the day, his mobile number is 0403 249 215.
PLEASE ENSURE ALL ATHLETES ARE IN THE CORRECT TEAM KEILOR UNIFORM WITH ORANGE JETSTAR PATCH SEWN ON. Please see Glenn early if you require a patch.
And I think that’s it for now. I will be working Saturday – so I will miss all the action. Parents / Athletes….anyone…….. send me pics via SMS on the day. I would love the get regular updates from you all (and pics of course). Brag moments, medals, kids just handing out, kids running and just trying their best – I want to see it all as it happens. My mobile number is 0412 902 423 – AND DON’T FORGET!!!
GO TEAM KEILOR!!!!! FLY FLY FLY!!!!
