It’s funny when we have these big events such as Regionals. First, the event seems ages away that you don’t even give it a second thought. We usually have to enter over the Christmas holidays and then you can’t think past the beginning of school. Especially when you have a preppy starting and EVERYTHING revolves around that first day. Then you blink and it’s next fortnight! This year, it seemed to come very quickly. All that preparation, all that planning, duty rosters, clash forms etc ….all that lead up and then I blink again and it’s over.
I know I say this time and time again – but – What a weekend! How great were our kids? And parents, you were pretty good yourselves. I have taken some pics of the weekend which I will post within this write-up. Sorry if you are expecting pics of our athletes competing…..that’s not me (well not this weekend anyway). You can wait for Lachlan’s or John Di Martino’s pics if you want some action shots. My pics are all about Team Keilor and the atmosphere at ‘Camp Keilor’. My favourite part of these types of weekends is watching the new friendships made on the weekend. Kids of different ages, all hanging out together.
There is quite a lot of planning an co-ordinating the weekend for all those involved. So thank you all for your efforts. I know that when the weekend arrives most of us all just enjoy it heaps. Personally, I enjoy hanging with the parents, chatting and getting to know different people. I enjoy getting to know kids that I wouldn’t know otherwise, it’s just really nice. To watch everyone hang out all weekend – what an opportunity missed if I wasn’t a part of it. For those that are yet to experience the atmosphere of ‘Camp Keilor’, you are missing out.
Team Keilor had 76 athletes register for Regions. This is a great number of athletes. Congratulations to all our athletes who competed. You were all amazing and should be proud of yourselves. I am still waiting for a final medal tally (and will post this as soon as I have it). We have quite a contingent of athletes that have progressed to States. The progression list can be located RIGHT HERE .
Well done athletes, it was a pleasure to be a part of it all and watch you compete. The final results can be located here .
**************************************************MEDAL TALLY UPDATE********************************
Thank you to Mike Lloyd who so kindly sent me the Medal Tally for the day. Congratulations to all our medal winners. Our final medal count was 25 Gold, 33 Silver & 30 Bronze. Well done!!!! Yay team Keilor!!!
Special congratulations to Ruby Pizzo who broke the NMR 80mH record and Charlotte Baskaran who broke the 200m & 400m records. Great achievement girls.
Some pics of some of our medal winners! Congratulations to you all!
Thank you to those that officiated for NMR on the weekend. Gail Monument, Mike Lloyd, Aaron Carmichael who gave up their entire weekend as officials – thanks guys! Big thanks also to our other officials of the weekend – John Di Martino, Anand Baskaran, Ian Guyett, Veronica Ratu, Russell Cram, Lynelle Petersen, Glen Walsh & Maryanne Reynolds. We also had our starters Michael Taylor, Libby Derks and Chrissy Spurrell, and my assistant team Manager Lyn Grech – THANKS! I know I am repeating myself – but if these parents didn’t volunteer – we would not be able to hold these events. THANK YOU.
The majority of our parents and families were great, all completing their allocated duties for the weekend. It was great to see parents on time and ready to assist. We had a number of parents who volunteered to assist with extra duties when needed – MASSIVE THANKS GUYS….you were lifesavers! Your co-operation with this was a huge help on the weekend. Thank you to those who contacted me before hand if there were any issues with the duty roster, it is much easier to adjust the roster before hand rather then 10 minutes after a duty is supposed to commence.
So – it has once again been a pleasure TEAM KEILOR! Looking forward to an exciting State Competition in March…..Just need to work out where in the world Casey Fields is?
Until till then ……………………. Fly TEAM KEILOR – FLY FLY FLY!
