KEILOR LAC CLUB CAPTAIN SELECTION POLICY
PURPOSE & DEFINITION
Each season the KLAC Committee will appoint one male and one female captain. Club Captains are senior athletes who are representative of the athletes of the Centre, who promote leadership, and uphold and demonstrate the values of Little Athletics within the Centre.
To be considered for selection as a Captain, athletes must have:
- Be a registered KLAC athlete in either the U16, U15 or U14 age groups
- Had continuous membership at the Centre for at least three seasons. A successful season is defined as having attended, and participated in a minimum of 50% of possible competition days (or 4 competition days if registration took place after Christmas)
- Attended and participated in most Regional (Relay and Individual) and/or State events (if qualified)
- Demonstrated excellent behavior, leadership and sportsmanship.
Note that no athlete may be appointed centre captain more than once, and the decision of the Committee is final.
PROCESS FOR SELECTION
At the beginning of each season the KLAC Committee will call for nominations from athletes that are registered to compete for the season.
Once applications have been received, each candidate will be considered by the KLAC committee according to the above criteria. Where more than one athlete meets the above criteria the committee will give priority to athletes who in their opinion best meet the requirements of the position.
