Congratulations to all athletes that competed in Saturdays events. As you can see it was a very successful day. And whilst I am the first to admit that we all get excited about winning medals, all the teams ran very well, even those that couldn’t quite make it into the podium. You all put in a tremendous effort and did Team Keilor proud.
Thank you to our coaches who spent a considerable amount of time and effort organising and running training and planning teams. It is a big effort – so a massive thanks to Ayele, Chrissy & Jenny, Sue, Ian, Russell, Tim, Stephanie, Pete, Meli and Shane. Athletes – have you thanked your coaches? And my assistant Team Manager Alida Portaro who was a huge help for the day. Thanks Alida! Can’t forget our officials who spent the entire day working hard, Mike, Aaron, John, Gail, Salim, Libby, Chrissy & Michael, thank you for giving up your day guys. I have said this time and time again – without hard working volunteers like these, our children would not be able to compete. So big thanks once again.
We had a number of athletes that volunteered to assist in the day filling in team gaps. Massive thanks to these families who rearranged their plans and volunteered for a race or two, making it possible for other athletes to run. I hope you enjoyed the day and it has given you a taste of what relays are all about. Hope to see you all return next year
Whilst being relay co-ordinator has been quite a learning task for me, I had no idea it would involve half the things I did this past month. One of the major highlights for me once again was getting to know athletes and families that I would never have met on a normal athletics weekend. There are so many kids out there that are so passionate about the sport – I love it! We have so many kids out there that just love to run and Saturday’s efforts just proved that for me. Thank you for your phone calls, patience and readiness to help out the team…..we really are the Best Team Ever!
Team Keilor – You flew so High ….you soared through the sky!
PS : Progressions to the State Relays on 12th December are yet to be released. When they are made available, the qualifying list can be found RIGHT HERE!
