Congratulations to all athletes that competed in the Northern Metropolitan Region Cross Country. We had a great turn out of Team Keilor athletes. I am told it was a great day and all athletes did an outstanding job.
Please see the write-up from Glenn Walsh our team manager:
The day wasn’t looking the best when Russ and I got there for setup, 6 deg and the odd light shower. By the time everyone was arriving and the start of the races the showers had passed…..we even saw the sun at times.
Race 1 was a great start for team Keilor with the under 9 girls, 1st was Javiah Najdovski and 2nd Bridget Walsh. Dakota Reynolds ran home well, coming 8th, passing a Diamond Valley girl in the last 150 m helping Team Keilor take out its first team win. Mia Landgren came 12th and ran well.
The boys Under 9 was a strong field with Mitchell Parton 6th and Noah McMenmin 8th both not far behind the winners.
Under 10 boys – Team Keilor was first across the line with Samuel Scodella holding off a fast finishing Essendon boy. We were well represented with Jackson Heidrich 5th, Oscar Hodgett 6th, Aidan Cram 7th and Kyle Taylor 15th , again it was Team Keilor taking out the team win.
Under 10 girls – had Madison Mountjoy just missing out on a place coming 4th and Nadia Del-Corobbo 12th.
Under 11 girls – Charlotte Baskaran was up against the twins from Coburg which she hadn’t beaten before, halfway thought the race she was just behind the twins and with a hard push in the closing stage of the race she managed to spit the twins to come in 2nd, Maddison Reynolds also ran a great race, finishing 10th.
Under 11 boys – Gabriel Acosta 10th
Under 12 girls – Alyssa DiMartino came 2nd , Michelle Spurrell raced well finishing 12th.
Under 12 boys – Jackson McMenamin ran well, placing 2nd and Nicholas Landgren finished 9th.
Under 13 girls – Yara Taylor won
Under 13 boys – Wilson Cram 5th
Under 14 boys – Saw two new members to Team Keilor up against season cross country runners, Rayvia McIntosh coming across the line 3rd and Marlon running a great race to come 5th.
